Glenpool has one of the biggest names in Oklahoma history and almost none of the housing to match it. The Glenn Pool field discovered here in 1905 made Oklahoma the nation's leading oil producer and put Tulsa on its way to becoming the Oil Capital of the World — but the town itself stayed small for most of the century and only became a real suburb when Tulsa's growth reached it in the 1970s and 80s.
What that means practically: almost all of Glenpool's housing went up after 1970. About half was built since 1990, often with a builder pre-wire that is now the limiting factor, and much of the rest dates to the 1970s and 80s, before anyone ran structured wiring. It is one of the more straightforward places in the metro to install.
Glenpool also sits right on Highway 75, which puts it within easy reach of the whole southern metro — the newer subdivisions off 141st and 151st, the older core near downtown, and the acreage properties on the edges toward Kiefer and Mounds.
Glenpool's newer construction is about as install-friendly as the metro gets — slab, accessible attic, standard framing. Runs go up and over and drop inside the wall. Most projects here go faster and cost less than the same work in an older part of the metro.
